What was the first piece of jewelry you ever splurged on?
KS: It’s hard to pinpoint as I was hand making jewelry and wearing it at a very early age! However, I had a memorable trip to Santa Fe years ago, where I stumbled upon an incredible vintage gold statement necklace that now holds sentimental value for me.

What do you want for Mother’s Day this year?
KS: As a mom (and bonus mom!) to six kids, this Mother’s Day, I want to spend quality time with my family at our ranch in the Texas Hill Country. This holiday is not just about Mother’s Day–it’s about always putting your family first and finding joy in everyday moments with loved ones.
RHC: Todd started this tradition of breakfast in bed with beautiful, elaborate breakfast trays covered in fruit, eggs, and all my favorite things! I’m looking forward to breakfast in bed with my girls and cake this year.
Looking back on each of your journeys, is there a particular moment or milestone that stands out as particularly significant in the development of your brands?
KS: Wow, it’s been 22 incredible years filled with so many memorable moments, but one that truly stands out for me is the day we opened our very first brick-and-mortar store right here in Austin, back in 2010. It was a game changer for us as a company. We took a big leap of faith transitioning from wholesale to direct-to-consumer after the recession hit, but it completely reshaped our journey for the better. That little store on South Congress gave us so much more than just a retail space. It gave us a chance to really get to know our customers on a personal level. We learned what they loved, what they didn’t, and that genuine connection became the cornerstone of our entire customer experience. We’re not just about making a sale; we’re all about building relationships and connections. And it all started with that very first store.
RS: We like to say, “It’s a very bright and beautiful future.” Our approach is to look forward even in challenging times. For example, during COVID, when the world was shutting down, we persevered optimistically and opened nine stores that year. The advice I like to give is to follow your instincts, surround yourself with smart people, and create something that you are willing to dedicate yourself to 100% of the time—actually, 1,000% of the time! To be successful in your own business, you must be so incredibly passionate about the product/brand that the boundaries between your personal life and your work life are blurred.
