Jennifer Lopez—and Her City Girl Wardrobe—Has Returned from the Hamptons

Jennifer Lopez is saying “so long” to bike rides in flouncy skirts and espadrilles, and “hello” to her city wardrobe, which is stacked with denim, blazers, and towering platform heels.

The 55-year-old, who spent the last week in the Hamptons celebrating her birthday, returned to New York City on July 25 looking refreshed and ready to get to work on…whichever one of her several business ventures needed her attention most.

Lopez was photographed in SoHo wearing an off-white blazer with unusual cut-outs running from her elbow to her wrist along the interior seam—some practical ventilation, maybe?—over a strappy white crop. A pair of high-rise, trouser-cut jeans, white cork wedges, and the singer’s signature aviator sunglasses-and-hoops combo finished off the polished look.

The last we saw Jennifer Lopez, the multi-hyphenate was all-smiles while rolling along on a beach cruiser bicycle and wearing an impractical but seasonally on-theme floral skirt set. However, despite appearances, she later revealed on Instagram that she had been feeling “fragile” during her birthday celebrations, which took place amid a strained period in her and her husband Ben Affleck’s marriage.

In a message to fans thanking them for their birthday wishes, Lopez wrote that she had “laughed, smiled, [and] shed some tears” while celebrating her 55th.

“It’s funny as I sit here contemplating on the most extraordinary journey I still feel like the same girl starting out so full of energy and bravado, so ready to take on the whole world on the outside and yet so tender, fragile and sometimes frightened but always full of love on the inside,” she wrote.

Affleck, meanwhile, was photographed in Los Angeles while his wife’s celebrations—including an elaborate, Bridgerton-themed party—took place on the opposite coast. But if Bridgerton has taught us anything, it’s that love stories can sometimes be a little…complicated. That’s just part of the living in the greatest love story never told, I guess!
