Contractors are on alert for a £1bn portfolio of work being offered by housing association Guinness Partnership.
The new business will cover planned investment and major works across England over a 15-year period.
Guinness Partnership is looking to appoint regional firms to the various contracts, which could cover general construction work plus projects to fix solar panels, fire-alarm systems, cladding and sprinkler systems. Work may also involve fixing central-heating radiators and boilers, and heat pumps.
The work will be divided into five lots, split depending on where the work will take place in England. Each lot will cover work to general needs properties, leasehold and shared ownership properties, and supported housing.
The first lot, worth £320m, will cover planned investment and major works to around 20,000 properties in Greater Manchester and the North West. Lot two, worth £155m, is for work to 11,000 properties in Yorkshire, Humberside and the East Midlands.
Work in the Home Counties is covered in lot three. This will focus on 9,000 properties, with work valued at £110m.
Lot four, with a value of £260m, will cover the South East and coastal areas, plus Greater London, where Guinness Partnerships has 19,000 properties. The fifth lot will cover work to 11,000 properties in the South West, valued at £170m.
One contractor could win up to four of the five lots, the tender documents state.
