Construction News launches life sciences conference

Construction News and Property Week are joining forces to deliver a new conference for construction professionals, real estate advisors, investors and developers to explore the dynamic market of life science and research real estate development.

Life Sciences & Research Clusters will bring together experts who are driving the future of developments to meet the demand for building space in this thriving sector.

This event will explore the latest trends, the developments shaping the sector and the challenges that the sector needs to overcome to meet demand and deliver the next generation of science and research real estate.

Speakers are set to include Andy Williams, chair of the Oxford-Cambridge Supercluster Board and Anna Strongman, chief executive of Oxford University Development, as well as directors from Apache Capital, Edinburgh BioQuarter and LS Estates.

The conference will take place on Thursday 27 June at Hilton London Canary Wharf. For more information on speakers and tickets, see the conference’s dedicated website here.

CN editor Colin Marrs said: “There is no shortage of work for construction firms in the burgeoning life sciences and research sectors. With huge investor appetite, this pipeline looks set to provide opportunities for many years to come.

“Our conference will be a valuable chance to discover where – and from who – firms should be looking for new business, and the techniques needed to deliver life sciences and research facilities to the high specifications required by clients.”

Property Week editor Lem Bingley said: “The UK is a world leader in life-science universities but lags behind internationally in the provision of lab space for commercialising research.

“This shortfall has held back the UK’s progress, but thankfully it has not gone unnoticed. Developers, investors and regional authorities are all now poised to dramatically accelerate the provision of space suitable for science and technology development.”
