Though she’s been adamant for years that kids and marriage were not her destiny, Ariana Madix is less certain these days. She says her mind has been opened by her relationship with her new love Daniel Wai.
“In retrospect, Tom [Sandoval] being my partner affected my feelings on having kids a lot more than I thought it did,” she told the camera during the most recent episode of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, per People. Madix and Sandoval were together for nine years before their relationship publicly imploded following #Scandoval.
It seemed, actually, that Sandoval was more open to the marriage-and-kids thing than Madix was, but their relationship dynamic didn’t reflect that level of commitment.
“I feel like with Dan, I’ve kind of had my eyes open to the fact that there are different types of partners out there who would actually be a real 50/50 partner, or if I can only give 10% that day, he’s ready to give 90,” said Madix.

Asked by co-star Lala Kent how that might affect her desire for a family, Madix sang Wai’s praises, saying, “I mean, he’s the first person that I’ve met that I’m actually like, ‘Oh, is that what that would be like?’ I just think he’s opened my mind and opened my eyes to a lot of different possibilities that I could not see.
Over the summer, Madix opened up to Glamour about the other question, that of a ring. “I still wouldn’t want a wedding,” she said in our June cover story. “For me, it’s about the marriage. There’s something about weddings, and the fanfare, and the bachelorette. I just don’t want any of that.
