Network Rail has awarded places on a £1.15bn framework covering reactive and minor works across its Eastern Region.
The Eastern Region Reactive & Small Schemes Framework, which will run for an initial five years with potential for two one-year extensions, is split across four lots for civils and building works.
CN100 firms J Murphy & Sons (lot two) and Sisk’s rail subsidiary JSS Rail (lots three and four) were among the contractors selected by Network Rail (see boxout for full list).
The framework will support Network Rail’s Strategic Business Plan during Control Period 7 (CP7), covering low-complexity emergency callouts, planned preventative maintenance and small schemes for buildings and civil engineering assets.
Contractors will deliver a wide range of works including geotechnical response, bridge repairs, structural integrity work, platform refurbishments and drainage clearance.
The civil engineering elements span activities such as desilting, earthwork renewals and bridge strike response, while building works will include roof repairs, canopy refurbishments and asbestos removal.
The framework is divided geographically:
-
Lot one: civil assets across North & East, East Coast and East Midlands routes;
-
Lot two: civil assets in Anglia;
-
Lot three: building assets across North & East, East Coast and East Midlands routes;
-
Lot four: building assets in Anglia.
Network Rail said the indicative framework values are based on CP7 budget forecasts, not guaranteed workloads, and include potential contract extensions.
It will use competitive negotiations to set final pricing for individual projects.
