Here’s How Amazon’s ‘Another Simple Favor’ With Blake Lively Is Reviewing

I didn’t realize that the sequel to 2018’s rather good A Simple Favor, Another Simple Favor, was coming to Amazon Prime Video, not theaters, but it’s 2025 and that’s the sort of thing that happens now.

The movie has just hit Amazon Prime Video as of today, May 1, and whether you want to know if it’s been worth the seven year wait, we can check reviews. And they’re good!

As it stands, with 54 reviews in, Another Simple Favor has a Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an 80% score. That’s close to identical compared to the first film which has an 84% with a 73% audience score. I would expect the sequel to have a lower audience score not necessarily because of the quality of the film, but because of the recent Blake Lively drama which has earned her an army of haters, justified or not.

That of course all stems from the situation and lawsuits with Justin Baldoni, the co-star and director of her last film, It Ends With Us, where she alleges inappropriate behavior and a secret smear campaign against her, and he’s countering by saying that isn’t true and it’s affecting his online reputation. To this day, both are receiving a lot of online hate, organic or not.

Meanwhile, co-star Anna Kendrick remains unproblematic, as ever. She has been a little quiet lately when it comes to high profile live-action roels. She’s been doing voices in Trolls movies and the recent Scott Pilgrim show. She directed and starred in the rather good Woman of the Hour, her directorial debut.

As for what Another Simple Favor is about, it picks up after the events of the last film, and you can read the synopsis here:

“Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.”

The film also stars Allison Janney, Henry Golding and Andrew Rannells and director Paul Feig has returned for this sequel, which no doubt helped it maintain its quality.

So yes, Another Simple Favor certainly seems watching if you’re a fan of the first, or you can do a double feature if you missed the original.
