Hsc Designs curates a functional and artful space for a startup client in Chennai, India.
Project Overview:
- Design Firm: Hsc Designs
- Client: Experiential Design Startup
- Completion Date: 2023
- Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA
- Size: 550 sq.ft
When conceptualizing the office for a young spatial and experiential design startup, Hsc Designs crafted a space that embodied their essence—a haven where creativity could thrive in an environment mirroring the company’s energetic and unconventional approach. The design, named “Mirages Azul,” serves as a living representation of the brand’s ethos. Natural light floods through large windows, illuminating the space and accentuating every curve, shadow, and reflection. The neutral concrete floors and walls act as a calm foundation for bold design expressions.
A sculptural chair constructed from cylindrical metallic tubes serves as a centerpiece, defying expectations with its sleek, robotic silhouette. Adjacent to it sits a desk with organic, fluid lines that flow like water, featuring a deep blue glass base that contrasts with the smooth tabletop. The office’s focal point is a bold sapphire blue partition wall with glass blocks, adding depth and sophistication while maintaining youthful exuberance. The ceiling, adorned with fragmented, mirrored metal panels, creates a shimmering tapestry of light and reflections, embodying the startup’s daring, forward-thinking philosophy. Every element—from the reflective surfaces to the abstract shapes of the furniture—has been carefully chosen to evoke creativity, spontaneity, and boldness, creating a space where the line between art and function blurs.
Project Planning
The founder of the company is a young creative professional and had a unique aesthetic requirement which we have taking cues from and followed. The ceiling design required a lot of R&D as the panels that it is designed from is a very delicate material and a very rigid material in terms of malleability and we wanted to make sure that it becomes the hero element which encourages the flow of spatial elements.
Project Details
The heart of the space lies in the details, particularly the bold injection of colour seen in the glossy, sapphire blue. This partition wall anchors the room, offering a structured counterpoint to the organic forms of the furniture. The glass blocks reflective surfaces catch the shifting light, adding depth and a sophisticated touch to the office while maintaining an air of youthful exuberance. This rich blue shade ties into the startup’s vibrant, creative energy, while the grid-like arrangement of the tiles introduces a sense of order amidst the chaos.
The ceiling, however, is the pièce de resistance. Adorned with fragmented, mirrored metal panels, it creates a shimmering tapestry of light and reflections. This feature encapsulates the very essence of the young brand—a ceiling that appears to shift and move, like fragments of a shattered mirror or the night sky reimagined. The jagged, dynamic arrangement of the panels speaks to the startup’s daring, forward-thinking philosophy, as though every facet of this ceiling reflects the endless potential of the work happening below it.

Overall Project Results
The ceiling is a common aspect that they love while using the space as it not only ties the whole space together but also as it is an experiential design studio it makes for a good visual attraction for clients.
